My sister, Kate, recently started writing for Beamer Films. A studio in Nashville specializing in producing media for churches. The first film to feature her writing, called “The Simple Complexity of Easter” is now available on beamerfilms.com for viewing and download.

Patrol Magazine is featuring a story about Andy Zipf’s new, soon to conclude mini-tour, Pfriends on Pfilm. It is a pretty amazing conglomeration of beautiful and stunningly good music by Andy (with Pete Lim) and some amazing VJ-ing and motion graphics by Brad Wolf from SOTA. The story features some of my photography from the SOTA Studio show a couple of Friday’s ago and also has a paragraph about my friends, Tereu Tereu.
I’ll be posting some more photos from this shoot on Flickr, soon. Stay tuned.

Over the summer I designed a book cover for “The Youth Ministry Survival Guide”, art directed by my friends at Sharp Seven Design. The book is now listed on Youth Specialties’ website and It will be in bookstores May 2008.
It was a fun and challenging project to work on. Maybe there will be some more book covers down the pipline.

I discovered “This I Believe“a while back while perusing a Cracker Barrel before Jamie & I left on a trip back to Indiana. We were looking for a book on Tape (err, CD) for the car ride and ran across a collection of “This I Believe”. We listened and fell in love.
This I Believe is a radio segment on NPR that allows people, in spoken essay form to articulate their beliefs in a 5 minute time slot. They accept essays from anyone and everyone, from house wives to intellectuals already known for their ideas. This series originally began by Edward R. Murrow in the 1950’s, and was picked-up again in recent years and new life breathed into it by Jay Allison.
There is something inspiring and deeply entrenching about listening about what other’s believe. The essayists’ statements are spurred by and smelted in the heat of life’s difficulties and passions. They are clear, and show a direction that I often wish I had. They aren’t dogmatic or a wrote creed. As much as I love and find solidarity the Christian creeds that I do believe, there is something about the crystalizing of personal experience and brings things home.
Reflecting on these beliefs makes me wonder what I really believe and how I, a) live my life b) how what I believe is actually lived out, and c) what do other people perceive as my beliefs based on how I live. I want to do a better job formulating my beliefs, maybe I’ll write an essay someday.

Yesterday the article about my FAA ONE Art Show and Book and Fredericksburg All Ages was featured prominantly, on the front page of the Town and County magazine in the Free Lance-Star. It was a positive article that presented FAA really well. If you didn’t get a chance to see it in the paper, you can see it online at Fredericksburg.com. Thanks for the great article Michael!

Fredericksburg.com - Silver gives to city arts group
The Fredericskburg Athenaeum, an arts non-profit in Fredericksburg that I am very involved in just got a $500,000 endowment from the Silver Companies. This means the Fredericksburg Athenaeum has a good foundation to pour back into projects like the Panta Rhei Project and Fredericksburg All Ages (both are projects of the parent Fredericksburg Athenaeum). I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
