I’ve recently been using Textmate an amazing text editor for Mac. I’m now able to edit HTML & PHP much faster…even quickly prototyping websites using them, as opposed to using graphics software or Dreamweaver.
Ok, but that is beside the point. I just found out that you can B-L-O-G, blog with Textmate! this is crazy. In fact that is how I blogged this post. Unbelievable.
Check out this screencast to see just how this works.

I just launched a new website for a client, www.weadonphotos.com. The site features a slick, and simple flash interface and a nice slideshow and photo viewer. Btw, Weadon Photos shot our wedding. I’ll post when those images are up online.

Jamie and I went to see Stranger Than Fiction at the Regal in Fredericksburg, and though the plot was charming, interesting and Will Farrell was delightfully awkward as a IRS auditor with a life turned upside down by an unknown author writing his very demise into her book, those weren’t what stuck with me the most.
As a graphic desginer, the most intriguing thing to me about this film were the info graphics developed to show Harold Kricks O.C.D. or prehaps autistic condition where numbers, computation, and a tedious, meticulous routine ruled his life. As the narrator described this hermetically sealed life, various info graphics of measurements, numbers and charts overlayed the scene with mechanical precision and motion. These complicated designs in a simple white were developed by MK12 out of Kansas City.

I found it terribly fascinating how they used these overlay graphics to describe visually what was being described verbally and subtly using film. One particular instance you see this subtlety opened up is when Harold meets literature professor Jules Hilbert, and the professor hits the nail of Harold’s physchological obsessions right on the head when he asks him how many tiles he counted while in the bathroom. He says that he doesn’t count tiles and we see via the masterful overlays that he infact, was calculating the percentage of soap in the each sink’s soap dispenser.
In another example, a scene uses the graphics to show parts of Harold’s routine indicated by icons that look akin to the National Park Service symbols. Clean, organized, and thought out…much like Mr. Cricks personality.
It is such a breath of fresh air to see good design that is used in creative ways in film outside typical titles and credits. Bravo.

Fredericksburgers: The new non-profit art studio that I’m starting with some friends, The Panta Rhei Project, is having an organizational meeting on Nov. 4 at 11:00am. If you are interested in finding more about Panta Rhei or would like to get involved, this would be a great meeting to attend.

After far too long of sitting the basement and doing nothing. I finished my desk. It is the biggest and most useful workspace that I have ever had at home and I’m very excited about starting to use it.
A big thanks to Ryan Poe and Tim Poe for helping me create such and awesome desk.
There are more photos of it on flickr

Back at the end of July, Jamie and I got to take care of Lewis overnight. We took him out for Ice Cream at Lee’s and spent some time playing at the park. We had a great time. Here are some photos from it.

I made Jamie and I coffee at 8:00pm. Why? I’m not sure. All I know is that my heart is beating fast. Everything is driving me crazy. And I’m starting to belive that the moon landing never happenend and that Breck might be right that the British government has been trying to control British citizens by producing bad music since the 1970’s. Ok, maybe I’m mad as a hatter…or maybe the coffee was too strong…or maybe conspiracy theorists are just coffee addicts.
