On Sunday, the folks from The Nameless Church will be heading to D.C. to with the folks from Sojourners, Cedar Ridge Communtiy Church and others to pray, worship and encourage U.S. action on behalf those suffering genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Chris has a great post on his feelings about his response to this, as well as links to resources about what is going on there. If you are interested in joining us check out more info on our website.

I hope the organizations involved understand that nice words alone aren’t going to save the citizens of Darfur. It’s going to take military force applied against the guilty to protect the innocent. Pray for the soldiers who will once again place their lives on the line to make the world a safer place.

Thanks for your comment, anonymous. It is clear that one of the goals of this gathering is to help not only raise awareness and increase military peacekeeping in Darfur (as stated on their website) but also to pray for God’s justice and mercy.

To me prayer is a real, and radical act of faith to ask an unseen God to intervene in seen ways. That takes a faith that moves mountains of injustice and God does bless that kind of faith (see Hebrews 11)

So, as a Christian I cannot see myself as relying on the strength of men to accomplish great tasks. Rather, in humility, we ask God to intervene and use what ever means that he wills to do so. It could be political action, It could be military force, it could be something more radical than those.
